Screening by Jaén 2022

The Rodando for Jaén Short-Term Contest comes to this tenth anniversary, supported by the success achieved in previous calls, with projects presented from all over Spain. Of the 30 works presented, eight were chosen and received a workshop and tutorials by the filmmakers Montxo Armendáriz and Pablo Berger, together with the producer Puy Oria. The fruit of this workshop is the short films that premiered in this special projection, which were shot at the beginning of June in different locations of our province and mobilized for the same 150 people.

SINOPSIS:

The death of Socorro leads members of his family to meet again at his funeral and face challenges that persist from the past. Each of them, from their position in terms of age and gender, will process through the burial the end of the life of the loved one. A reflection on the duel, the family, the importance of tradition and a window to the rural custom of the villages of the countryside of Jaén.

SINOPSIS:

Paco and Bea are about to get married. But Paco just found out that the wedding will have a guest who doesn't like him: a cousin of his wife, with whom she had a relationship in the past, so she's very upset. I'm a prisoner of jealousy, he's threatening not to get married and he's getting very violent. Bea's brother, Miguel, sent by the mother to see why it takes the bride to get to church, notes that something weird happens between the couple.

SINOPSIS:

Maria de la O is a woman who has just sent and suffers from a Pica disorder that is manifested in her compulsive need to swallow whole olives. After assuming her husband's functions in the field, she will be forced by the task of collecting the olive. In the face of the refusal of the usual collaborators to work with her, Maria de la O will have to accept a group of unusual laborers.

SINOPSIS:

In Sierra Magina there are creatures called Juanhoras, half human half equine. Magda, a girl with socialization problems, feeds these beings in exchange for roots to cure her mother. When his father, an obsessive hunter of Juanhoras, discovers him, he reacts with cruelty by further cooling the tense relationship with his daughter. Magda will do anything to have her father's appreciation.

SINOPSIS:

Laia makes a trip to the village where her father, Aldeaquemada, comes from. During his journey, he lives with a memory that feeds daily and seems unable to let go. When he arrived at the village, Laia met a brother of his father who he had never heard of. He and Laia will open the doors of their unknown family members; some delusional memories undrawn by the passage of time. Together they will reveal their feverish memories, which are in themselves fable and reality.

SINOPSIS:

Alicia, a 30-year-old urban girl, decides to start a new life in the rural world, specifically in her grandfather's old house, which she never met. When he arrived in the village, he had a conversation with the locals and began to settle in which he could be his new home. But soon he finds out he's got the wrong house: the house he was settling in is not his grandfather's. The true home of your family is in far worse, completely uninhabitable conditions. It is then that he decides to accept his own incongruence and continue the farce, settling in the building that best suits him, even if he does not belong to his family.

Amelia's day begins in a routine and normal way, little by little, Amelia shows her most hidden obsessions, a set of disorders that torment every moment of her day. We see how Amelia survives that dark intimacy that does not show her close friends, that which scares her, that embarrasses her, and how she manages to deal with the suffering that these disorders give her.
