The Split Mediterranean Film Festival has been confirmed as one of the best and most popular cultural events of the Adriatic, and its positive spirit during the last 17 editions has been recognized by more than 15,000 visitors annually. This is mainly due to the Mediterranean films that are released in the region or in Croatia and that cannot be seen in the usual cinemas.
The exhausted tickets are the norm in our two beautiful outdoor cinemas, so no one complains when watching a movie sitting on a ladder or on a beach towel. In addition, this informal environment gives the FMFS the Mediterranean aroma.
The strength of the Festival is the Mediterranean Short-Term Contest. 15 films from all over the Mediterranean compete for the Gancho Festival award, with 3,000 euros.
The Croatian short films are also part of this competition and we have prepared a small selection of Croatian short films over the years, focusing on local authors and stories.
In case you have already decided to visit Split in June, don't worry, you will not be the first: we have heard that some are planning the holidays according to the FMFS dates!
So point in your calendars from 12 to 21 June 2025.
