The International Benalmádena Film Festival (FICCAB) joins the Short Film Conference, the main international short film organization, to which belong the most prestigious festivals in the world, such as Clermont-Ferrand, Aspen or Tampere, among others.
The International Benalmádena Film Festival (FICCAB), new member of the Short Film Conference (SFC), the main international organization dedicated to the promotion, development and defence of short film and professionals working in this field.
Founded in 1970, the Short Film Conference is an international non-profit association that brings together about a hundred festivals, markets, distributors, platforms and cultural institutions from around the world.
Its main objectives include: strengthening of the short film industry, the promotion of cooperation between festivals, the exchange of knowledge, research on the sector and the defence of the interests of filmmakers and short-term works.
With this incorporation, FICCAB becomes part of a network made up of some of the world's most prestigious short film festivals, including Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival (France), Tampere Film Festival (Finland), Interfilm Berlin (Germany), Short Short Film Festival & Asia (Japan), Leuven International Short Film Festival (Belgium) or Aspen Shortsfest (United States).
In Spain, the Benalmádena International Film Festival joins a small group of competitions that are already part of this international organization: Mecal Pro Barcelona International Short and Animation Festival, La Mida No Importa / Size Doesn't Matter and Tenerife Short.
For the festival director, Jaime Noguera, this incorporation means «an important recognition of the work developed by FICCAB during its three decades of history and an opportunity to strengthen collaboration with some of the major international actors in the short film sector».
Membership of the Short Film Conference will allow the festival to participate in professional meetings, international cooperation projects, studies on the short film industry and programmes to strengthen the presence and circulation of these works worldwide.
Founded in 1998, the Benalmádena International Film Festival has been consolidated as one of the most successful short films in Spain.
Each edition receives more than a thousand works from dozens of countries and maintains a firm commitment to the discovery of new talents, the author cinema and the dissemination of independent cinematographies. This year, it celebrates its 25th edition October 10-17.
The addition to the Short Film Conference represents a new step in the FICCAB internationalization strategy and strengthens its role as a meeting point between filmmakers, programmers, distributors and professionals of the international audiovisual industry.
