Ana Belén and Dani Rovira, awarded at the Benalmádena International Film Festival

Benalmádena, 24 October 2023.-The Benalmádena International Film Festival has released the national awards it will award in its twenty-second edition, which will be awarded to actress Ana Belén, who will receive the award 'A Life of Cinema', and the actor Dani Rovira, who will be awarded the 'Interpretation Award'. These awards are added to the international awards that will bring to Benalmádena figures as respected from European cinema as the German filmmaker Volker Schlöndorff, actress María de Medeiros and Armenian filmmaker Harutun Jacatrian.

This was announced today at a press conference by the Councillor of Culture of Benalmádena, Jésica Trujillo, and the directors of the Festival, Jaime Noguera and José Ramón Martínez Verastegui, who have reported that Ana Belén will receive the honorary award in recognition of her entire career during the gala to be held on Thursday, 2 November, at 21: 00, at the House of Culture of Arroyo de la Honey.

With the distinction of "Un vida de Cine," the FICCAB pays tribute to the more than five decades that Ana Belén has devoted to the seventh art, both as a film actress, as a theatre and television actress, as well as its less known facet as a filmmaker, where she debuted with the tape "How to be a woman and not die in the attempt," based on Carmen Rico Godoy's successful book.

"Unquestionably an icon of cinema, theatre and music that has taken over all the arts "as the leaders of the FICCAB have emphasized. Among the distinctions that he has already received as an interpreter and singer, are the Corral Award for Comedies of the Classic Theatre Festival in Almagro, the Goya de Honor of the Academy of Cinematographic Arts (2017), the gold medal of the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences, or the Latin Grammy to Musical Excellence (2015).

The actor, comedian and presenter Dani Rovira will be another of the honors of the 22nd edition of FICCAB. The Malagasy will receive the 'Interpretation Award' that distinguishes the trajectory of actors and actresses from the national landscape. The award, which will be delivered at the closing gala on Saturday, November 4, at 8: 00, at the House of Culture of Arroyo de la Honey, is a recognition of an actor who "has made his generation laugh so much," the edil of Culture has pointed out. This same award was awarded last year to Salva Reina and in previous editions to actors and actresses such as Nathalie Pozas, José Mota, Luis Tosar, Loles León, Karra Elejalde or Malena Alterio.

Rovira has previously received the European Gold Medal for Merit at Work, the Goya for Best Revelation Actor or the Medal for the Circle of Cinematographic Writers for Best Revelation Actor, among other distinctions. "Dani is a merit actor who, with its versatility, commitment and actoral skills, becomes a prominent figure in the Spanish film industry," the directors of the Benalmadense Contest have highlighted.

Invitations for the galas

As in previous editions, and as reported by the Festival coordinators, the entries to the projections are free to complete. The invitations for the opening gala, on Saturday, October 28; the closing gala, on Saturday, November 4; and the award gala of the 'One Film Life', on Thursday, November 2, can be requested the day before each gala, with a maximum of two entries per person, in the email info@ficcab.org.

Ana Belén, "A Movie Life" Award

The career of this singer and actress is as prolific as it is lasting. In her more than 50 years of profession, Ana Belén has participated in almost half a hundred films, twenty plays and has sold millions of copies of her more than 35 albums. His numerous musical shows have been successful in Spain and Latin America.

At only 13 years old, Ana Belén starred in the children's film 'Zampo y yo', and appearing in numerous films such as: 'Tormento' (Pedro Olea, 1974), 'La hive' (Mario Camus, 1982), 'Be unfaithful and don't look with who' (Fernando Trueba, 1985), 'La casa de Bernarda Alba' (Camus, 1987), 'Divine words' (García Sánchez, 1987), 'Rosa, rosae' (Fernando Colomo, 1993), 'The Turkish passion' (Vicente Aranda, 1994), or 'Libertarios' (Aranda, 1995).

In 2015 he received a Goya award in the category of Best Actor Revelation for "Eight Basque surnames," at a ceremony in which he also served as a host. He reintroduced the Goya gala in 2016 and 2017.

Since then, Dani Ravira has not stopped filming feature films, with an average of two films per year. Among many titles, his film shows films such as the romantic comedy 'Now or Never' (2015), along with Maria Valverde, the second part 'Eight Catalan Surnames' (2015), or the drama '100 meters' (2016). He has also lent his voice in animation films like 'Catch the flag' u 'Ozzy'. In 2021 she premiered the award-winning six Goya, 'Mediterranean'.

In addition to its role as an interpreter, Rovira founded in 2017, along with Clara Lago, the Ochotumbao Foundation as a way to assist and collaborate in projects aimed at improving the lives of the most disadvantaged, the conservation of the environment and the defence of animals.
