The writer, journalist and screenwriter, Elvira Lindo, will receive the "A Life of Film" award at the XXIV edition of the International Film Festival of Benalmádena (FICCAB). The festival wants to recognize a brilliant trajectory that has marked several generations of readers and spectators. Creator of Manolito Gafotas, turned into a classic of Spanish children's literature that adapted to the large screen, Lindo has developed a versatile career that covers adult narrative, theatre, radio, television and cinema.
The award was unveiled on Monday by the City Council of Benalmádena, Jésica Trujillo, together with the directors of FICCAB, José Ramón Martínez and Jaime Noguera, as well as the sign for this new edition of the international competition.
The work, as in previous years by the Marbellí designer, resident in Mallorca, David Grimaldi, is inspired by the pictorial style of the Malaysian artist Pablo Picasso and the Aragonese film director Luis Buñuel, making reference to an iconic image of his film 'An Andalusian Dog'.
In addition, Grimaldi has wanted to embed winks to local sculptures and constructions such as the Castle El Bil Bil and the roundabout of Los Molinillos, all of which, of course, with a beach background due to the location of the city hosting the festival.
During the presentation, the edile has emphasized that this year more than a thousand works have been received for the call for short films for competition, which will be part of the programming, from countries such as Iran, South Korea, Canada, Chile, Brazil, Serbia, Colombia, Argentina and Spain. It should be noted that twenty of the short films presented had their origin in Malaga, all of them choosing to win the more than 3,000 euros that FICCAB grants.

The Benalmádena International Film Festival will take place from 18 to 25 October at the Casa de la Cultura de Arroyo de la Honey and the Benalmádena Costa Exhibition Centre, and will have invited countries such as Algeria, Bulgaria and Korea, to whose culture the festival will devote a special day for the younger with dance competitions, Korean writing workshops and special projections in which they will draw lessons and various activities.
New guests and the rest of the City of Benalmádena Film Awards will be announced in the coming weeks, as will the short films that will form the Official Section and the rest of the FICCAB's programming.
