Polish director Krzysztof Zanussi received the International Prize for the Benalmádena International Film Festival (FICCAB) on Tuesday from the mayor of the Malagasy city, Juan Antonio Lara, at the Conistory House.
In the event he has been given his award and the filmmaker has signed the Book of Honor of the City Council. The honorary event will be attended by, apart from Krzysztof Zanussi himself and Mayor Juan Antonio Lara, Jesica Trujillo, City Council of Benalmádena, and Jaime Noguera, director of FICCAB.
The film-maker polo has received, with emotion, the statue of the girl of Benalmádena, praising the award to an old film director: «A few years ago at the beginning of my work I thought the awards were for young people only today I can't say I'm young because I'm 86. Every prize helps me, because over time doubts grow and the danger of losing the conviction that the world has its meaning, that the world is not absurd».
And he added: «The world is mysterious and we cannot penetrate it, but with intuition we can believe that our life makes some sense. Thank you so much for this award for an old man because old people need support like young people.».

The mayor of Benalmádena, Juan Antonio Lara, has emphasized the figure of Zanussi, to which he considers «one of the great contemporary filmmakers» and «an exceptional author» which has participated in close to 50 titles and worked in different formats, from cinema and television to documentary and fiction.
Zanussiwhich has been signed in the City Hall's Book of Honor in an emotional act, was praised by the first edition for its numerous world-wide recognition and contribution to European and global cinema. His presence at the festival this week in the city is "an honor" for all Benalmádena.
